Alternatives to Clue
Clue is a careful, research-minded app. If you want no account, data only on your phone or paid features for free, these apps are worth comparing.
People look for alternatives to Clue for different reasons. Clue now requires an account and keeps your data on its servers as well as your phone, and its Conceive and Perimenopause modes are part of Clue Plus.1,2,3
Clue also does a lot well: EU data storage, a free version it says will stay free, and a self-serve download of your data.4,5,6
When Clue may still be the right choice
If EU data protection matters to you, you use its research-tested Conceive mode, or you connect a wearable, Clue may still be the best fit.7,8,9
What to check before you switch
- Where your entries are kept: on your phone, on the company’s servers, or both.
- Whether you need an account, and what an account links to your data.
- What the privacy policy says about selling and sharing, not just the app store label.
- Whether you can export everything yourself, in a file you can reuse.
- Which features are free and which need a subscription.
- Whether it covers the stages you need, such as pregnancy, after a birth or perimenopause.
