Veya vs Ovia

Two free apps that follow you from periods through pregnancy and beyond, built on different ideas about where your information lives.

Ovia is made by Ovuline, Inc., which does business as Ovia Health by Labcorp. Its main app covers cycles, fertility and pregnancy, and a separate Ovia Parenting app tracks a baby’s feeds, sleep and nappies. An enhanced version, Ovia+, is offered through employers, health plans and healthcare providers.1,2,3

Veya hasn’t launched yet. This page sets Ovia, as it describes itself today, beside what Veya plans to offer at launch.

What Ovia does well

  • One app from periods through fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause and menopause.2
  • A large free library: Ovia says it has over 2,000 free expert articles.2
  • Pregnancy tools including a week-by-week guide, a kick counter, a contraction timer and a bump tracker.2
  • No advertising to consumer users since June 2025, according to its privacy policy.1
  • Through employers and health plans, Ovia+ adds health coaching and live one-to-one support from a care team.2,7
  • It connects with Apple Health and Fitbit on iPhone.2

Where Veya is different

  • Your entries stay in a local database on your phone. Cloud backup, partner sharing and the community are optional and stay off until you turn them on.
  • No account: you need a sign-in only if you choose cloud backup.
  • Eight languages, including Arabic, Chinese and Hindi.
  • One version for everyone. There’s no employer or insurer edition, and optional pay-what-you-want support unlocks nothing.
  • No daily scores. Veya shows estimates as windows with their confidence, and patterns as counts of what you logged. Ovia’s listing describes a daily fertility score.2

Which should you choose?

If your employer or health plan offers Ovia+

Ovia may be the practical choice. Ovia+ adds coaching and care-team support, which Veya doesn’t offer.2,7

If you want an app you can use today

Ovia is available now on iPhone and Android. Veya hasn’t launched yet.2,6

If you’d rather your records stayed on your phone

Veya is designed for that: no account, a local database, and cloud features only if you turn them on.

If you need a language other than English or Spanish

Veya plans eight languages at launch. Ovia’s US App Store listing shows English and Spanish.2

Questions

Is Ovia free?

The main Ovia app is listed as free on the US App Store, with no in-app purchases listed. An enhanced version, Ovia+, is provided through some employers, health plans and healthcare providers.2,1

Does Ovia share my data with my employer?

Ovia’s privacy policy says that, for Ovia+ members, it doesn’t share health data with your employer unless you expressly consent for a specific purpose. It may share personal data with your employer’s health plan and its business associates, including your health insurer, consistent with HIPAA or other privacy laws. These parts of the policy apply to Ovia+, not to the free consumer app.1

How do I move my history from Ovia?

Ovia’s privacy policy explains how to get a copy of your data from the app’s settings (More, Settings, “export my data”) and how to delete your account. Keep the export for your records; in Veya you can start by adding your recent period dates.1

Is either app a form of contraception?

No. Ovia’s terms say its services aren’t intended for use as a method of contraception, and Veya isn’t a method of contraception either.4
